It's been one of those Mondays..

And were pretty exhausted. We are in the final throes of finishing a project and looking forward to having tomorrow afternoon off, free to kickback, relax and completely ignore our Macs (for a couple of hours that is, until we scurry back home and hug them tight to our chests, stroking their LED screens and whispering pledges of eternal love). Editing...

can be a fickle mistress. And although it's not as messy a job today as it was for the blokes in the picture, it can be just as exhausting. We are currently editing footage from the Art around Adams event that took place on Saturday June 6th. It was an interesting festival, with cool bands, artists, and quirky performers floating about. But there's a lot of footage to dig through and it's been a bit of a task determining which were the best clips to go with. However, we got some great soundbites from some of the musical acts which we're excited about highlighting. Anywho, we're thinking of taking a break to see Will Ferrell's new movie Land of the Lost that just came out. I don't know why. The trailer was corny, we didn't really laugh during it, and the reviews are less than complimentary . So like any good ol' Fruedian subject, we are going to plunk down $10 and see it, because every mental and social gauge says not to. We'll be sure to pass on our grumpy and unsatisfied review of the flick for you to ignore also. That's it for today. Have a great night!

So happy its Friday

We are very excited that its the weekend, as we have two projects this weekend to keep us busy. One of which is covering the Art Around Adams event for Citybeat. Should be a lot of fun as the all day event covers over 1.5 miles of art galleries, music, film screenings, and more. Be sure to check it out.

Carradine

Really sad and strange news about David Carradine's death. He was found dead in his hotel room in Bangkok Thailand today. The "official" cause is listed as suicide, but there are some odds circumstances that may things look even more sinister. We don't need to get into the gory details, but whatever way he met his end, he will be missed as he was a film icon and played a huge part in the popularity of the 70's kung fu genre. Some of the most amazing pieces of art you'll ever see come together when two creative entities meet and find something in each other that can complement their own abilities. Our country has seen some visionary collaborations over the years. Bowie and Bing, McCartney and Jacko , Paul Abdul and MC Skat Kat, the list goes on and on. That's why we are soooo jazzed to be teaming up with San Diego Citybeat to create original video content for their website. This last weekend we filmed the 2009 San Diego Threadshow for Citybeat, and had a lot of fun checking out the amazing clothes, fashionable people and talented musicians/artists that peppered the place. We are exhausted...and its only Tuesday...anyway we completed shooting the SD Wax Queen commercial today and finished moving......so tomorrow we are going to take it easy and possibly log footage...anyway we hope your week is going well.

This looks pretty good...we will probably go check this out this weekend...

Filmmaker Competition (Part Dueh)

So I guess I'm posting about film competitions two days in a row! It's that time of year when all the fun film competitions start pouring in mainly through withoutabox. Speaking of withoutabox, have you ever noticed how they always post open competitions a couple days before the deadline? What is the point of that? Like, I'd really love to know about the film competition where you shoot a 2 minute music video for a chance at 5 million dollars before it ends. Withoutabox really needs to start posting the opening dates of competitions. Anyways, that's my rant for the day.

So where I was going with this was withoutabox posted a contest today that sounds really interesting. It's basically a chance to submit your film idea, and possibly win the money to produce it. It's called the The Ultimate Filmmaker Competition The contest consists of you presenting a 1 page synopsis of your film idea, a 250-word mission statement as to why you were born to yell "Action!", and a resume. Based on these items you could receive a $200,000 production grant and a over $300,000 in resources. It has some legit sponsors like Canon, Final Cut and Movie Maker Mag. There are some dubious elements though, such as a $75.00 entry fee, and of course the deadline is two weeks away. But if you've been sitting on your story for a few years and think you can create a one page pitch strong enough to sell it, you should take a look at this contest. I am seriously considering applying for it.
